Also, it's made much clearer that the cult of Holy Wayne (who Tom calls "Mr. Tom and Christine's roles are quite similar, but their journey is covered in much more detail in the book. Also her head is shaved, which is an interesting visual. Jill is more or less the same, though she has a better relationship with Kevin in the book. Naturally, Mayor Lucy is not in the book. That's kind of how he was elevated to a position where he could be elected mayor. His father isn't in the book but he (Kevin Jr) is said to come from a well-established family, one who owns several superstores in the region. Kevin is not police chief of Mapleton, but Mayor. If anyone here notices any inaccuracies, or wants to help me fill in the memory gaps, please feel free to do so! (*Be forewarned: spoilers for the book ahead*) (Obviously, for those of you who don't know, Season 1 of the show ends where the book does). Thought I would break down the most noteworthy differences between the book and the show here. If you haven't yet read the book but are considering it, I would definitely say go for it. I love the character dynamics, and Perrotta does a great job of giving us insight into each character's innermost thoughts. I just finished reading the book for the first time after having seen the show (twice), and personally I really enjoyed it.
